Benefiting Local Middle School Science Programs
Grant Requests
Grants through the Mary Francis Memorial Fund are available for the purpose of funding public middle school (grades 6th through 8th) science programs. Eligible public middle schools must be located in Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Benito, or Monterey Counties.
Funding for field trips may be used for student and teacher entry fees or admission, field trip supplies, and transportation.
Funding may not be used for personnel costs, lodging, or meals.
Funding for other science-based projects may be used for equipment, supplies, etc. that further and enrich
the science education of your students. If you are not sure that your project meets the criteria, please contact us here.
1. Qualifying proposals shall be submitted by a public middle school science teacher and signed
by the school principal approving the submitted proposal.
2. Qualifying proposals shall be on Official School Letterhead and include:
+ Submission Date, Field Trip Title, Description, Field Trip Location,
Student Grade Level, Course Title, and Expected Student Benefit

+Submission Date, Proposed Science Project Title/ Supplies/ Costs, Description,
Student Grade Level, Course Title, and Expected Student Benefit
+ Proposed Itemized Costs by Type (Admission, Transportation, Supplies)
+ Total Amount Requested from the Mary Francis Memorial Fund and
Additional Funding Secured (if any)
+ Attachments (Back-Up Documentation)
+ Submitting Teacher's Name, Title, Phone Number, and E-Mail Address
+ Principal's Name, Title, Phone Number, and E-Mail Address
3. Submit Qualifying proposal.
4. Once received and reviewed, the teacher and principal will receive correspondence
via e-mail within 30 Days of submission.
5. All awarded funding shall be issued directly to the applicable School District for appropriation.
